Tuesday dinner club was at Fat Lorenzo's in Minneapolis off of Cedar avenue. We walked into an entryway with a counter, cash register and freezer with homemade gallato. Directly behind the counter was where the magic happened. The cooks were preparing the pizzas and slicing them up when they were ready to go.
We walked to the dining area and the walls were painted all over with life size paintings. Even the bathroom had a lovely landscape painted all over. The painted walls kept the place exciting.
We ate a homemade bread stick for $2.59 for starters. I read breadstick and said "Only one? It must be big!" It was. It curled around the basket it was served in with a side a marinara. It was pretty good. Nothing out of this world, but worth the money as it set the mood for what was coming up next.
Next we ate the Fat's pizza. This was an extra large pizza with sausage, pepperoni, black olives, green olives, onions, green peppers and of course cheese. The crust held it's own with all the toppings. The crust, cheese, sauce and toppings were in perfect proportion to my standards. The flavors worked so well together I had to eat two pieces. I think the fact that we ate the extra large pizza and had extra large pieces lent to the great flavors. They also have pizza by the slice so if you don't agree or can't decide you can get which ever flavor you'd like.
One dinner club member, Linda, a semi-transplant from Chicago said this was a place she could take her family to when they come to visit.
